Bangkok

Since the 20th I'm in Bangkok, and really enjoyed my time here. The city is really full of things to do, and it's also so nice to be back in a nice and warm weather. It started to be cold in Nepal...Read more »

Kathmandu – departure time!

For the people who could hear what was going on in Nepal, or did experience the Nepali demonstration in the street, one was going on the day of my departure. At 10am, when I was eating my big last breakfast on the terrace of the Hotel, I could hear all the shops pulling down the shutters quickly and a lot of people coming in the street. One shop was only about to pull down its shutters when one guy saw it and throw a rock at it. Luckily for the owner, it bounced on the shutters. All of them had rocks in both hands, and not small one!Read more »

The Last Resort

With Gilles we went 2 days at The Last Resort to do a bungee jump and one day of rafting. The bungee jump was incredible, 160m between the bridge and the river, so maybe a jump of 120m. It gives you plenty of time to think that it needs to end before it starts to do it really. Gilles jumped first of all the people there, and all of us could see how “long” the jump was. I had to wait much more time before my turn, and even if I was quite excited about doing it, when you’re moving forward the 1 square meter jump platform, you start to think about “what a hell am I doing here?”.Read more »

Rolwaling trek

Finally I managed to write down a short version of the trek & adventures that happened during our fabulous trek in the rolwaling region. We went there between the 27th of September and the 12th of October 2008.
2 guys, one not so young and the other still young (I was still under 30 at this time) wanted to go to the Rolwaling and to check-out the Chekigo peak and to pass the Tesi Lapcha to continue in the Khumbu region (Everest region) with the Everest Base Camp and Gokio lakes. Let’s say that it was the original plan, on the day we were leaving Kathmandu.Read more »

After the Rolwaling, next destination is Langshisa Ri

I'm uploading some pictures of the previous trek in the Rolwaling but I didn't write yet the post about the whole trek, so you will need to wait more... (bad guy!). But you can check out the first pictures of the trek at this address: http://photos.shakeyourlife.com/

Tomorrow we are going to leave, Gilles and me, to the Langtang National Park, to climb the Langshisa Ri, 6427m. We finally get the permit today after not being able to get one for the Larkya Ri in the Manaslu region. We couldn't go on our own in this region and therefore we wouldn't get the trekking permit for the Manaslu.Read more »

Today is a big day

I'm in Pokhara now for some days before the next trek/expedition, depending on where we will go. At least it's a much better place to celebrate my birthday than Kathmandu since the night-life isn't "shutdown" at 23H (11pm)... And there is so much less noise and pollution! And there is a french restaurant here. The menu for tonight sounds good already.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll be able to do some kayaking, with a playboat! That's going to be so fun!!! It's been a long time since my last kayak run.Read more »

The ultimate trekking shoes: Thamel-Rolwaling model

During my last trek I discovered one thing at least, the ultimate trekking shoes anybody must have during a trek. Let me explain why, but before going any further in this post, please have a look at this video (in french) to warm you up:
Tetes a claques - Le Willi Waller or Tetes a claques - Le LCD Shovel
